More than 2000 years ago, on this day something happened that changed the life of times of humans forever. Today everyone celebrates that day but in different ways. Am talking about the day Jesus Christ died for all of mankind. Going by ancient Calender, the date was 14 of the month called Nissan. Nissan is the month the corresponds with Mid March to Mid April of modern calendar. But for this year, Nissan 14 falls on the evening of April 14 2014.
Now, why is that day significant? It is because on this day Jesus had His last dinner with his friends. But it was no ordinary meal. He was instituting a covenant with them...so after the meal he gave a command to "always do this in remembrance of me".
So last year about 10 million friends, along with almost 7 million Jehovah's witnesses met to obey that command. And this year won't be different. So back to the question I asked before. 'Where will you be tonight? Obeying the command or doing something else? Note that others would want to shift it to the nearest weekend. But that's not right because Nissan 14 was a Friday in that year Jesus died. But in 2014, it falls on a Monday. So if its a remembrance or anniversary, it must be done today.
So at 6.30 pm after sundown today, dress up, pick up your bible if you have one, if you Dont have one, it will be provided for you at the venue, or better still download it at www.jw.org. Walk into any kingdom hall of Jehovah's witnesses and listen to the one hour program. Any questions you have will be answered happily by those you met there.
