GEJ ADVISED TO STOP MIXING POLITICS AND RELIGION. IS THAT POSIBLE??

In recent weeks, President Jonathan has been visiting churches in Abuja to make political statements...

The Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Ignatius Kaigama, has warned President Goodluck Jonathan to stop making policy pronouncements in churches. He advised him to go and meet the people in the villages where they are living in abject poverty and stop using his visit to churches on Sunday to play politics.

“All we want are politicians who are ready to serve Nigerians. Nigerians have suffered enough. The politicians that get into power concentrate their whole energy in helping themselves.

“If I have to meet the governors or the president I wouldn’t have to hide my disappointment. Our leaders are not giving their best to the nation.”

Archbishop Kaigama gave the warning while speaking to Rudolf Okonkwo of SaharaTV over the weekend. He said Nigerian politicians do not care about the people but engaged in mad pursuit of personal interest.

Archbishop Kaigama who is the President of the Nigerian Bishops Conference urged religious leaders to stop telling people in power what they wanted to hear because of the pittance that they collect from such men.

My question is can Nigerians separate politics and religion??
