BREAKING NEWS: Femi Kuti Loses Grammy Award The 4th Time!

Femi Kuti has lost out at the 56fth Grammy Awards held on Sunday January 26,2014.

He lost the prestigious award to a tie between winners Gipsy Kings and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

The award was presented by veteran
singer Cyndi Lauper at a pre-telecast.

Femi Kuti's album, No Place For My Dream, was nominated in the Best World Music Album category at the Grammys this year, making it his
4th Grammy nomination but unfortunately he didn't get it again.

Femi Kuti , Indian musician Ravi Shankar, French group Gipsy Kings and South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo are in contention for award in this category.

Meanwhile, Femi sent his sister to represent him. But she will be returning home empty handed from Los Angeles where the award ceremony was held.

In 2003, Femi, the eldest son of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti picked up his first ever Grammy Award nomination but lost out to
Panamanian salsa singer Rubén Blades.

He similarly lost in 2010 when he was nominated in the same category. US banjo player Bela Fleck walked away with the award.

The last time he was nominated in 2012 Femi Kuti had said that he will never attend the Grammys again. And that if he wins let them bring it to him in Africa. But he lost to Malian group Tinariwen.

His reaction shortly.
