Another victim of reckless truck in Ekitti. okada ridder.

There was confusion in Ikere Ekiti on Tuesday when a truck crushed an unidentified commercial motorcyclist to  death.

It was gathered from an eyewitness on Wednesday that the incident happened when the rear part of the trailer hit the deceased on the head while trying to manoeuvre between two vehicles.

Residents of the NITEL Office area of Ikere Ekiti where the accident happened were thrown into mourning.

The eyewitness said, “A small bus was parked on the side of the road. The motorcyclist was hit by the truck while trying to manoeuvre the vehicles.

“Blood gushed out of his nostrils and mouth. We thought he had died. Shortly after, he started gasping for breath and was rushed to a nearby private hospital in the town.”

He died shortly after being  referred to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Victor Babayemi (ASP), who confirmed the accident attributed the death of the okada rider to recklessness.

The PPRO added that the driver of the truck and his assistant would have been mobbed by irate mob but for the prompt intervention of the police.
